The challenge: consistent follow-up across the portfolio

Payment management requires teams to consider account history, overdue status, payment methods, and position in the billing cycle. The dealer wanted to expand coverage without increasing manual work at the same rate, maintain follow-up before and after deadlines, and make payment easier within one channel.

The solution: contextual management throughout the payment cycle

1. Segment customers using payment data

Volanti uses payment history, overdue status, and previously used methods to prioritize and personalize each interaction.

2. Reach out before and after the deadline

The agent starts preventive conversations and automatically resumes follow-up when a balance remains outstanding.

3. Resolve the next step inside WhatsApp

The AI agent answers questions and objections with account context and provides the appropriate payment method or link.

4. Bring in a human when needed

Exceptions, negotiations, and sensitive situations are escalated to an advisor with the conversation context.

The results: faster overdue balance reduction

Accounts were assigned to Volanti or the control group according to the final digit of their subscription ID. The analysis followed a stable cohort of 1,089 accounts across five snapshots from April 6 through April 23, 2026.

Both groups started with nearly the same share of accounts carrying no overdue balance: 0.70%. By the end, the Volanti-managed portfolio had reduced its total overdue balance further and brought a larger share of accounts current.

The key lesson: automation works when it preserves context

Effective automation means recognizing payment history, acting at the right time, making the next step easy, and knowing when a person should take over.
